The Business Library provides remote access to databases so that our patrons have the convenience of doing research from home or other remote locations. ABI/INFORM Dateline This electronic resource has been discontinued. Try Business Source Premier or Business & Company Resource Center instead.
ABI/INFORM Research A full-text business periodical database of 800 magazines and newspapers, including The Wall Street Journal. Provides information on advertising, economics, industry trends, human resources, finance, marketing, computers and more.
Annual Guide to Stocks (not accessible outside the library) Previously available in print at the Business Library, we now subscribe to the online version. You may search for either obsolete or existing stocks using a CUSIP number, a stock symbol, or the name of the company. You will need to ask for the user name and password to access this database in the library.
Associations Unlimited Provides profiles and contact information for over 450,000 U.S. and international associations. (To search this database, click on the link above then scroll to the title in the list that appears and click on the title again.)
Business & Company Resource Center A fully integrated resource bringing together company profiles, brand information, rankings, investment reports, company histories, chronologies and periodicals. Search this database to find detailed company and industry news and information. Provides full-text articles from over 2,500 scholarly business journals. Updated daily, Business Source Premier covers all aspects of business.
Contains full text articles from nearly 1,350 magazines and journals that range from general publications such as Fortune and Money to trade publications such as Restaurant Hospitality. The collection also includes top management journals such as Harvard Business Review. In addition, it includes detailed company profiles for the world's 5000 largest corporations.
CorpTech (now available through ReferenceUSA) Supplies detailed information on companies in every field of technolgy, from the computer and telecommunications industries to the medical and pharmaceutical industries. Data on private and public companies and their divisions, as well as nonprofits and government agencies is available. Search options include company name, location, industry or product.
Mergent FIS Online Find information on more than 10,000 U.S. public companies, including business summaries, histories, news items, and detailed financial data.
Mergent's Event Data (available only in the Business Library with the assistance of a librarian) Provides clients with the ability to research Corporate actions, Dividends etc. historically, as well as capture and analyze business developments as they occur using RSS/XML technology.
Morningstar (available only in the Business Library with the assistance of a librarian) The most respected evaluative resource for investors interested in mutual funds.
New York State Contract Reporter (available only in the Business Library with the assistance of a librarian) Lists New York State bidding opportunities for contracts greater than $15,000
The New York Times (via ProQuest Newspapers) Provides articles in full text from 1999 to the present.
Online Business Book Club Get the first few chapters of newly released business books, via your email. Visit the site and you can sign up today.
Plunkett Research Online (available only in the Business Library with the assistance of a librarian) This is the online version of the Plunkett directories; it lists contacts & business development data as well as industry statistics, trends and in-depth analysis of top companies.
ReferenceUSA Provides basic business and residential directory listings. Covers over 13 million U.S. businesses and 220 million U.S. residents.
Regional Business News Comprehensive full text coverage for regional business publications, including newspapers and newswires.
Sanborn Maps (Brooklyn Only) (available only in the Business Library with the assistance of a librarian) Sanborn maps are large-scale plans that include information such as the outline of each building, the size, shape etc. It also gives street names, sidewalk and street widths, property boundaries and house and block numbers. These colored digital maps allow for greater flexibility of use and improved viewing possibilities. Users have the ability to easily manipulate the maps, magnify and zoom in on specific sections and layer maps from different years.
The Serials Directory Provides bibliographic information and pricing for over 182,000 U.S. and international periodicals and serial publications.
S & P's Money Market Directories (available only in the Business Library with the assistance of a librarian) Here you can access in-depth profiles of 291 consultant firms as well as review executive biographies in the The Consultant Directory and market your products and services directly to investment managers with the power to make decisions using The Directory of Registered Investment Advisors. You can also position your services to foundations, universities, hospitals and other non-profit institutions using the Tax-Exempt Organizations eDirectory.
SRDS Media Solutions (available only in the Business Library with the assistance of a librarian) This is the online version of SRDS; it lists advertising rates and contact data for the following media types: business and consumer magazines, radio, direct mail lists and newspapers.
STAT-USA (available only in the Business Library with the assistance of a librarian) Access the valuable National Trade Data Bank to find daily trade leads, plus Country Commercial Guides and market research.
Small Business Resource Center Provides business information on all areas of opening, operating, and maintaining a small business including financing, management, marketing, and accounting.
United Way CARES Directory Community Access to Resources (CAREStm), the largest database for health and human services information in the Greater New York area. Provides information on government and nonprofit social service agencies.
Valueline (available only in the Business Library with the assistance of a librarian) A well respected rating service. By entering the name of a major publicly traded company, the online product allows you to easily locate the most recent analysis of a stock.
Wall Street Transcript (available only in the Business Library with the assistance of a librarian) Provides investment advice and information gleaned from interviews with CEOs and analysts who offer comments on specific equities, specific industries, finance and investing.
