Small Business
In this multiethnic borough, starting a new business is one of the ways that immigrants pursue the America dream. See the Subject Guides listed below to research different aspects of starting a business. Additional Business resources are listed on the Brooklyn Public Library's site under Explore a Topic.
For practical books on running a new business and personalized assistance, visit the Small Business Information Center (SBIC) at the Business Library. Use the helpful pamphlets issued by business assistance organizations and government agencies that are organized by topic into princeton files located in the SBIC. Additionally, the library's bulletin board is a great place to find information on up-coming programs and classes offered by local organizations.
Our own Business Library programs focus on topics of interest to small businesses, and our SCORE counselors provide free advice to owners of small businesses. Brooklyn Public Library offers further business assistance, aimed at young entrepreneurs, on its new and extensive website, MyOwnBiz.
